Uzbek Government forcibly detained human rights defender Elena Urlaeva in a hospital for more than a month

After more than a month of involuntary detention in Tashkent City Psychiatric Clinic, Uzbek human rights defender Elena Urlaeva was finally released on 1 June. Ms. Urlaeva, the elected leader of the Human Rights Alliance of Uzbekistan (PAU), was forcibly detained in the clinic since late April due to official orders. The clinic's officials threatened to detain Ms. Urlaeva for a year or longer.
